Manglik Dosha: why birth-time accuracy matters
Manglik Dosha is a traditional interpretation connected to Mars and selected chart houses. It is not a factual test of a person’s character or a forecast of relationship outcomes.
The traditional idea
In some Jyotish traditions, a Mars placement relative to the Ascendant, Moon, or Venus is examined during marriage compatibility work. Rules vary substantially. Some traditions consider specific houses, while others use exceptions, cancellation rules, or a broader full-chart reading.
Why a recorded birth time is essential
The Ascendant and houses change throughout the day. Without an exact or approximate birth time, a tool cannot responsibly determine those house relationships. It should say “not available,” rather than label someone Manglik or non-Manglik from incomplete data.
What not to do with this concept
Do not use it to stigmatize a person, pressure them into rituals, make a medical or legal decision, or reject a relationship without direct discussion. A label is not a measure of kindness, safety, compatibility, or personal agency.
A respectful astrology practice explains uncertainty. If a result depends on missing information, the honest result is “we cannot calculate this reliably.”

Confirm the recorded time with family documents where possible, note whether it is exact or approximate, and verify the birth location. Even with accurate inputs, astrology remains a traditional interpretive system rather than an evidence-based predictor.
